Village Club House

A benefactor, Mr William Spencer,  who lived in the village founded Lothersdale Village Trust (LVT) in 1928.  The purpose of the trust is to support the recreational activities of the Lothersdale community and to contribute to this aim; a house (the Village Clubhouse) was left to the village to be managed by a village trust (LVT), which charges rental fees for use of the clubhouse and uses the funds to support various village activities.

Over the years, the LVT has provided funding for a large number of village initiatives and organisations e.g. the village playgroup, singing groups, musical groups, the village cricket club, table tennis players (to county level) and archery competitors (to national level), The W.I, The Over 60s Club, Lothersdale Community Out of School Club, The Lothersdale Community Primary school and funds towards the village 'Party in the Park' to name but a few.

Since 2001 the Clubhouse has been home to the Lothersdale Community Out of School Club. This has brought significant economic benefits to the village by caring for the children of the community at times that allow both parents/carers to go out/return to work.

The Clubhouse  also provides meeting rooms used by The Lothersdale Over 60's, Playgroup, Whist Club, Young Farmers, The Parish Council, The Parish Trust, Snooker Players plus many more.

It is hoped a Youth Club will be up and running in the near future. Funding for this has already been obtained from Craven District Council and Lothersdale Village Trust. A recent survey carried out confirmed that 64 young people aged between 10 and 17 would be interested in joining a Youth Club. The survey identified that the Clubhouse was the preferred site, particularly as it is directly opposite the recreation ground.

Over the last twelve months the Trust has been raising funds to carry out various improvements to the Clubhouse. The proposed works include, a new heating system, disabled access & toilet facilities and a new kitchen downstairs. So far we have raised just under £25,000. Anybody wishing to contribute towards the improvement programme should contact the Chairman of LVT, Mr Michael Binns Calf Edge Farm, Lothersdale BD20 8HU
