Minutes of a Parish Council meeting on April 4, 2006, at 6.00pm at the Club House

In attendance:                Stephen Cohen  (parish clerk)

1                  Declarations of interest.   No interests were declared.

2                  To receive and accept apologies for absence. There were no apologies.

3                  Questions from the floor.  There were no questions.

4                  Election of representative on the district council’s standards committee.  It was agreed to vote for Michael Noon.

5                  The Clerk made a statement (copy on file) on the Council’s position in respect of the Chairman’s instructions to a contractor to stop work being done on street cleaning, and gave notice to the Council that it was exposed to the potential of legal action for breach of contract, the Chairman was acting without any authority and he could be reported to the Standards Board. Any decisions that might have been taken at a private meeting of councillors would not be valid.

6                  To discuss a resolution to calculate and pay gratuities on retirement and/or death in service under regulation 41 of the Local Government  (Discretionary Payments) Regulations 1996.  The Clerk was asked to leave the meeting at this point and Cllr Gover took the minutes. It was agreed to pass the resolution.
