Draft Minutes of a Council Meeting on June 16, 2003,

  1. Apologies for absence

    Apologies were accepted from Cllr Helen Marshall and Cllr Michael Binns.

  2. Minutes of the previous meeting

    Minutes of the meeting held on May 8 were agreed as a correct record.

  3. Questions from the floor

    There were no questions from the floor

  4. Clerk’s report (attached)

    The Clerk’s report was accepted.

    It was agreed to request NY Police to start their speed enforcement work between 07.30 – 09.00 and 15.00 – 19.00.

    It was agreed to ask Oswald Smith for his preferred date for opening the new recreation ground benches.

  6. Reports from County and District Councillors

    Cllr Fairbank said Lothersdale had not been chosen to participate in the garden waste collection service, but would be included in the waste paper recycling scheme. Information on the Little Red Bus Service was available.

    Cllr Mark Wheeler said a new chief executive of Craven District Council had been

    appointed. There would be a planning committee site visit at Lower Kirk Hill Farm on June 30th. A grant might be available for the Lothersdale Book of Walks.

8.    Planning

    1. Applications received:

Alterations to door and window (North elevation) and erection of new front boundary wall, Nethercroft, Sidegate Lane, Mr J A Ayrton 53/2003/3201.

No objections were raised to the application.

9.    Annual return for the year ended 31 March 2003

A statement of assurance attached to the annual return was agreed.

10.    Traffic speed:

It was agreed to contribute towards the cost of a mobile speed advisory warning sign to be used among a number of parishes.

It was agreed to request the installation of cobbled strips at both entrances to the village plus additional strips elsewhere on the road. New signs for speed limits, school and children’s playground were also requested.

11.    New seats

Discussion was held over to the next meeting.

12.    Footpaths

The Clerk was requested to speak to NYCC regarding Knot Farm.

13.    Marquee

It was agreed not to purchase a new marquee. It was suggested that the Village Trust might like to consider buying one.

14.    Post box at Dale End

It was agreed to request the Post Office to install a new post box at Dale End.

15.    Minor items and information

It was agreed to site the new notice board at the Club

The meeting closed at 9.00pm
